Eventing Awards Criteria
New changes for 2022! You MUST must enter their volunteer hours by November 30 to be eligible for year end awards - Online submittal form pending.
- Both the Rider and the Owner of the horse must be GVRDC members in good standing
- Rider must complete at least 8 hours of volunteer work for GVRDC per year. If distance or time constraints make volunteering a hardship, a donation to GVRDC for $120 (the equivalent of 8 hours) will be accepted. Hours must be logged by October 7th via our online portal (https://gvrdc.org/year-end-awards.html)
- Checks can be made out to GVRDC and mailed to P.O. Box 499 Geneseo, NY 14454. Please write "volunteer equivalency" in the memo line.
- Horse/Rider must complete (on a number) in at least one of the events below, at the qualifying level:
- GVRDC Spring Event
- Genesee Valley Hunt Horse Trials
- GVRDC Fall Horse Trials
- GVRDC Spring Event
- Horse/Rider combination may only receive one award at each level.
- Up to 6 scores may count, from other USEA recognized events. Only USEA recognized events will count for all levels.
- Awards will be given in the following levels:
- Starter, Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, Modified and Preliminary
- Levels will be divided into Horse, Rider (Jr and Sr) and Open

Driving Year-End Awards Criteria
- Both Driver and Owner of the horse must be GVRDC members in good standing
- Driver must complete at least 4 hours of volunteer work for GVRDC per year. If distance or time constraints make volunteering a hardship, a donation to GVRDC for $60 (the equivalent of 4 hours) will be accepted. Accommodations will be made for physical disabilities preventing volunteer time.
- Horse/Driver must be entered in and drive in our GVRDC driving competition. If driver is accumulating Pleasure Driving points and does not compete in combined driving, they must volunteer at our GVRDC driving competition.
- Up to 3 shows/events for each category may count (within 350 miles of Geneseo)
- Awards will be given in the following categories:
- Combined Driving: Training and Preliminary- Youth, Novice*, Open
- Pleasure Shows ADS Recognized: Youth, Novice*, Open
- Pleasure Shows non-ADS Recognized: Youth, Novice*, Open
- Pleasure Show Points shall count as follows (must be at least 2 in a class to count):
- 1st-7 points
- 2nd-6 points
- 3rd-5 points
- 4th-4 points
- 5th-3 points
- 6th- 2 points
- Participation- 1 point
*Novice – entries are ineligible for Novice after winning at least one first place ribbon in each of three ADS-recognized and/or USEF-licensed Carriage Pleasure driving competitions.
Suggested Qualifying Shows:
Combined Driving/Combined Test/Continuous Drive (up to 3 scores, including required GVRDC. MUST be ADS recognized event to count!)
